Jackie Marston professional bio

While studying at the Boston Conservatory, Jackie began modeling in Boston to support herself.  She became the face of the top Wedding Dress Designer House of Bianchi and modeled in their NYC Fashion Week wedding gown show.  The designer brought Jackie to a Lincoln Center performance, and she knew it was time to focus entirely on her singing career.

Jackie was mentored in her songwriting career by famed Oscar-winning producer and Playtone co-founder (with Tom Hanks), Gary Goetzman.  Her original songs can be heard on the soundtrack of Modern Girls, starring Virginia Madsen, and on the soundtrack of And God created Woman, starring Rebecca de Mornay.

Jackie enjoyed a successful career as a voice-over artist, lending her voice to national radio and television ads and narrating the Encyclopedia Britannica’s Science and Technology video.

Thirty years in the entertainment business as a singer /songwriter, Jackie has appeared on stages throughout the United States and Canada.  She has worked with some of the best musicians and producers in the business.  An early gig as lead singer with jazz great Sam Butera was especially memorable, along with opening performances in Las Vegas for George Carlin, Paul Anka, BJ Thomas, and Kenny Rodgers, to name a few.

Jackie was the lead singer in the band Raven for a year-long tour in Canada.

A lifelong love of animals, nature, and children shines through in everything she does – from songwriting to story-telling to her passionate support for organizations working to improve the world for all its inhabitants.

These experiences have inspired Jackie’s latest project, an educational series for children that reflects her knowledge and love for the natural world, titled Ojie, the Origami Grasshopper.  To date, there are seven books in the series.

This exciting project includes Jackie’s original music, penned with long-time songwriting partner David Murray and narration for each story’s audiobook.

David and I have been close friends for 30 years. He’s a great guitarist and songwriter and kept me laughing through a solid year of the Canadian tour.

Together we have written some great music that we are proud to have as part of the Ojie Series.

“Jackie Marston has expertly used her creative skills to put together a series of books and accompanying songs, to inform children about our precious world. Through her magical character, Ojie the grasshopper, young people will learn about our world, and some of the animals and places that are endangered. Her collection is important in helping young minds realize how we all must protect our beautiful universe. What better way to do this, than by making children aware of how they can help out! Her series is an important tool for use in schools, as well as in the home. Come see the magic unfold!” Linda Lara: creator and owner, Musical Yoga Adventures, LLC, and former public and private school teacher of Music and Drama.
